Orion 333 Four Tube Radio 1936 Vintage Set Restoration Data Picture Schematic
In spite its imposing look, this Orion 333 was a low price, simple, basic receiver, a three tube, three band radio set from 1936. It was a basic superheterodyne receiver with IF frequency amplification. The first tube is used as RF [Radio Frequency] amplifier oscillator stage followed by the IF [Intermediate Frequency] amplifier. The audio power amplifier stage used to drive the speaker. Designed to be used with a good long antenna on MW [Medium Wave] SW [Short Wave] and LW [Long Wave] it was a very dependale set. The radio is housed in a large stylish enclosure and it has an illuminated wide colored glass scale with the European city names marked for each strong station.
